In honor of Trace Adkins’ new album, Cowboy’s Back in Town, which released on Aug. 17, he sat down for an exclusive interview with aceshowbiz.com. Here’s a portion of the interview, during which he talks about the new album and his next single:
ASB: What is “Cowboy’s Back in Town” about? Why is it picked up as the album title?
Trace Adkins: I wrote this song with two goods friends (Kenny Beard and Jeff Bates) while I was touring last summer in the mid-west. It seemed to symbolize where I am at this point in my career and seemed like the perfect title track for this new body of work.
ASB: You have released a lot of records in more than 10 years. What makes this new album different from your previous efforts?
Trace Adkins: When Toby Keith heard the record, he said “It has a smile on it”. I think working with these two new producers, Kenny Beard and Michael Knox, we hit a new stride with the songs we cut and the players we used on the sessions.

Following a successful tour in 2009, Trace Adkins and Toby Keith have decided to, once again, share the stage this summer.
The 39-stop American Ride Tour kicked off in June and runs through Sept. 25 in Boston, Mass. Upcoming tour dates include July 31 in Las Vegas; Aug. 8 inPhoenix; Aug. 12 in Albuquerque; Aug. 21 in Camden, N.J., and more!
Toby Keith continues to tour in support of 2009’s American Ride, which quickly jumped to No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums Chart. Adkins continues to play music from his 2008 album X (Ten), and is scheduled to release a new album titled Cowboy’s Back in Town on Aug. 17.

Trace Adkins was awarded Vocal Event of the Year alongside Blake Shelton for their collaboration on “Hillbilly Bone.” The award was announced at an off camera celebration held the night before.
Adkins & Shelton were present at the 45th Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards where they performed their award winning song. Fans, don’t worry if you missed it, behind the scenes footage can be found on Adkins official website, traceadkins.com.
Currently Adkins is making his way across the US on his Shine All Night Tour with Martina McBride! The tour will keep him busy through the beginning of May. Special guests include Sarah Buxton & Luke Bryan. He will also be finishing out the summer performing on select dates with Toby Keith.

Country Star Trace Adkins has been signed to Toby Keith’s recently formed Show Dog- Universal Music label, making a surprise appearance at the press conference. When Keith’s Show Dog Nashville merged with Universal Records South, Adkins walked in and signed his contract in front of Reporters.
After 15 years with Columbia/Nashville, he said the decision was made when he spent time with Keith on tour and realized their “common vision.”

Trace Adkins was recently nominated for ‘Best Male Country Vocal Performance’ and ‘Best Country Song’ for the upcoming Grammy Awards.
“All I Ask For Anymore” off his album X (Ten) was nominated for Best Male Country Vocal Performance. In that category, he’s receiving competition from Billy Currington’s “People Are Crazy;” Jamey Johnson’s “High Cost of Living;” George Strait’s “Living For The Night;” amd Keith Urban’s “Sweet Thing.”
Adkins’ “All I Ask For Anymore” also received a nomination for Best Country Song, with competition from Jamey Johnson’s “High Cost Of Living;” Lady Antebellum’s “I Run To You;” Billy Currington’s “People Are Crazy;” and Taylor Swift’s “White Horse.”
The 52nd annual Grammy Awards are returning to the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010, and will air live on CBS at 8 p.m. ET.
